Born and raised in Port Charlotte, Florida, I began my photojournalism career early in southwest Florida. Promptly after graduating high school, I began working for the local Charlotte Sun newspaper where I spent two years covering spot news, sports, community events and various assignments in Charlotte County. During this time, I began studying under my mentor, retired Navy photographer John Lewin. During my two years at the Charlotte Sun, I learned and grew under the direction of the talented photo editor Paul Schmidt. In 2007, a move to Tampa to complete my major in anthropology meant leaving the Charlotte Sun. With kind words, we parted and I began a steady freelance career all the while being mentored by Lewin.

In December, 2009, I graduated with my degree in anthropology from the University of South Florida where I had also worked for a year as a photographer for the College of the Arts at USF. Shortly after my graduation, I began working full time for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a team photographer. My passion for capturing and understanding the world as it evolves only fed my desire to excel in my chosen major and as a photojournalist. I will be learning for the remainder of my life and shooting the whole time.
